With the epoxy cured we can continue with the wooden canoe paddle repair. the next step is to remove the masking tape and then sand both sides of the canoe paddle blade, including the shoulder of the paddle and up to the throat.. I broke my paddle and then broke it again.. Best answer: extended exposure to water will render almost any type repair you can devise weaker than the paddle was when it was new. if the original paddle wasn't up to the stress and strain you subjected it to, the repair will be even more likely to fail the same treatment..
While we rarely hear of one of our paddles breaking, sometimes the unthinkable happens! if you have a broken paddle blade, watch the above video as jason explains how to repair it.. The key to proper paddle repair is going slowly, keeping repair areas clean (and cleaning regularly as a preventative maintenance issue as well) and developing basic skills in the uses and applications of these chemicals.. Repairing a paddle shaft is very similar to creating a set of split paddles.i have a pair of werner players that were pretty much brand new but had snapped near the right hand blade. the technique i use here could be used to repair the shaft on pretty much any paddle and could even be used to shorten or adjust the feather on a sound paddle..
